Experimental and under development, file sizes 100 - 1300 KByte, last updated 29 November
The songs below are a selection of a 90 minutes tape, available on request, which was composed out of 5 hours of recordings from Tamang porter girls and men, and Raj kitchen boys and cook, during the 1998 Mera Peak trek in the Everest Region of Nepal. The selected songs were recorded in and near Ringmo, Thuli Kharka, Tangnag, Khare and Lukla.
Please note that for Netscape users the *.wav files can be played by setting the Options/Preferences/Helpers for audio/xwav to C:\WINDOWS\SNDREC32.EXE for launching Sound Recorder. Default settings are launching CD-player which will result in no action. Down-loaded files can be played with the Sound Recorder program in the Accessories/Multimedia in Windows 95 and NT.
Microsoft Internet Explorer users can play the files directly without any manual adjustments.
After playing the music, check your c:\temp space and remove any *.wav files left by Netscape or Explorer as these are big.
Did you like the recordings? Would like to hear from you. Please send comments or questions to Jean at: J.T.VANBERKEL@siep.shell.com
